How to Meet Singles in Zürich (Without Relying on Dating Apps)
Jun 29, 2026If you've ever found yourself wondering where all the single people in Zürich are, you're certainly not alone.
It's one of the most common frustrations I hear from clients.
Many people describe dating in Zürich as difficult. Between demanding careers, established friendship groups and weekends spent travelling or in the mountains, it can feel as though everyone has already found their people.
The result? It's easy to conclude that the only place left to meet someone is on a dating app.
And while dating apps can absolutely work, they're only one way to build a relationship - and certainly not the only one.
Stop Looking for Places. Start Looking for Patterns.
One of the biggest mindset shifts I encourage is this:
Don't ask,
"Where can I meet someone?"
Instead ask,
"What kind of life is most likely to bring me into contact with the kind of person I'd like to meet?"
Because lasting relationships rarely begin through one lucky encounter.
More often, they grow through repeated interactions, shared interests and familiar faces.
That's why building a life you genuinely enjoy is often one of the best dating strategies there is.
Five Ways to Meet Like-Minded People in Zürich
1. Join a community
Whether it's a hiking group, sports club, choir, language course or local Verein, communities give you something far more valuable than a single conversation - they give you repeated opportunities to get to know people over time.
2. Try something new
Take the cooking class.
Sign up for pottery.
Learn Italian.
Join a climbing gym.
Even if you don't meet a partner, you'll expand your social world - and that's rarely a bad thing.
3. Say yes more often
Talks, wine tastings, museums, festivals and community events all create opportunities to meet people who already share similar interests.
The goal isn't to find "the one" that evening.
It's simply to become someone who participates.
4. Let your network help
Many long-term relationships still begin through mutual friends or acquaintances.
If your friends don't know you're open to meeting someone, they can't think of introducing you to anyone.
Sometimes the best introduction comes from someone who knows you well.
5. Focus on building a life, not finding a partner
This may sound counterintuitive, but the people who tend to enjoy dating the most aren't desperately searching for a relationship.
They're building lives they already love.
Ironically, that's often what makes them more attractive to others.
And one more thing...
When you’re implementing the strategies 1. and 2., consider going to some events on your own.
It might feel a little outside your comfort zone at first, but there's a subtle advantage. When we arrive with a friend, we naturally spend much of our time talking to the person we already know.
When we arrive alone, we're often more open to conversations, introductions and unexpected moments of connection.
You don't need to do this every time. But every now and then, give yourself the opportunity to be fully present in the room.
Design Your Love Life
There will always be an element of chance in meeting someone.
None of us can control who walks into our lives tomorrow.
But we do have far more influence than we often realise.
We choose the routines we build.
The communities we become part of.
The conversations we start.
The opportunities we create.
In other words, we can begin to design the conditions in which meaningful relationships are more likely to grow.
That's the philosophy behind Design Your Love Life - my workshop for intentional singles who want to approach dating with greater clarity, confidence and direction.

A Question to Leave You With
If someone with the qualities you're hoping to find spent the next month in Zürich, living your current routine...
How likely is it that your paths would naturally cross?
If the answer is "not very," perhaps it's not your luck that needs to change.
Perhaps it's your strategy.
